Run Away and Hide got his newest stakes winner on May 27 when Beach Getaway won the $50,000 Northbound Pride Oaks by two lengths over a sloppy main track at Canterbury Park (VIDEO).
Beach Getaway was stakes-place twice at 2, including in last year’s Debutante S. at Churchill Downs for her owner James Thares. She is the 31st stakes winner for Run Away and Hide, whose all-time leading runner Are You Kidding Me placed in the recent Eclipse S. (G2) at Woodbine.
Making her first two-turn start, Beach Getaway tracked the leaders through a half-mile in :48.77, rallied two-wide on the final turn, then swept past O’Keeffe to take the lead for good. Drawing off in the final sixteenth, the winner was in hand at the wire.
The first foal out of Seaside Magic, Beach Getaway was bred by Ron Kirk, John Bates and Michael Riordan.
